Your long-term base in Oman
A 10-year renewable residency for you and your family, earned through an investment you control. Since September 2025, Oman's Golden Residency opens from OMR 200,000 across seven routes, from an operating company to government bonds or a bank deposit. This catalog sets out who qualifies, what you get, and how to apply step by step.
Why Oman?
- Strategic location. Coastline on the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman, with the ports of Duqm, Sohar and Salalah outside the Strait of Hormuz, linking the Gulf, the Indian Ocean, East Africa and South Asia.
- Stable, neutral foreign policy. Oman is known for its long-standing mediating role and good relations across the region.
- Safety and quality of life. Oman ranks among the safest countries in international indices and offers a calm, family-friendly environment.
- Strong, pegged currency. The Omani rial is pegged to the US dollar, which simplifies long-term planning.
- A diversifying economy. Government policy is moving growth into logistics, manufacturing, energy, tourism and technology.
- Modern infrastructure. Ports, free zones, industrial cities, highways and international schools and hospitals in the main cities.
Oman's economy and Vision 2040 priority sectors
Oman Vision 2040 is the national plan to reduce reliance on oil. Priority sectors for investors include:
- Renewable energy and green hydrogen: large solar, wind and hydrogen projects, especially around Duqm and Dhofar.
- Logistics and ports: Duqm, Sohar and Salalah, plus free zones built around them.
- Manufacturing and downstream industry: Madayn industrial cities such as Rusayl, Sohar and Nizwa, and Khazaen Economic City near Muscat.
- Tourism and real estate: Integrated Tourism Complexes and new urban projects such as Sultan Haitham City.
- Technology and digital services: startup and tech clusters such as Knowledge Oasis Muscat.
Tax note: Oman has no personal income tax today. A 5% tax on individual income above OMR 42,000 a year starts on 1 January 2028.
